Liquorice root can be very beneficial to horses, it has demulcent properties and supports soothing of the respiratory tract. It has also shown the ability to aid liver function. Liquorice has an oestrogenic activity which has been used to aid fertility in female animals therefore it is advisable to avoid use during pregnancy.
