Rosehips are a rich source of vitamin C, also contain minerals and a source of iron, vitamins A, K, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin and volatile oil. Rosehips are a mild astringent and an excellent anti-oxidant that is sometimes known as ‘blood tonic’. They help cleanse the body of toxins while supporting the kidneys, liver and circulatory systems. They are also nutritionally important for health hooves, bones, skin and coat. After a period of illness, rosehips can be combined with other herbs to help the horse recover and return to health. Rosehips are excellent to use as a spring tonic.
